Katrina’s Birthday List

For all you people driving me nuts; here is Nina’s birthday list. Oh and YES her birthday is on the 19th. We will wait until Friday (the 20th) to have some cake though… Guess which kind? Van/Van like every year LOL!

The Practical

  1. strawberry toothpaste (yes she asked for toothpaste)
  2. pajamas
  3. slippers (not the fuzzy hot kind)
  4. comforter (not the quilt kind – they feel yucky) On a side note if I ever ask for a comforter I prefer the quilt kind.
  5. bed frame – having her bed on the floor evidently “creeps me out”
  6. flash light – guess sometimes she tries to trip on her way to the stairs in the middle of the night
  7. fan – she gets hot in her room sometimes :)

The Crafty

  1. Needles
  2. Thread
  3. Buttons
  4. Book about sewing/art (as  in sewing art, not as in art  or sewing, don’t ask me I just wrote the list)
  5. Cloth

The Fun

  1. Dog bed
  2. Dog collar (small because it would be for choco)
  3. MP3 Player
  4. telescope – I might have to get her one this Christmas if I can’t for her bday… She has asked for one for a long time.
  5. Science kits (use your imagination
  6. balloons (water – twisty – regular, she likes them all)
  7. stencils
  8. Pogo Stick – she loves these things used to play with one in gym all the time
  9. Kid dart board – soft tip and doesn’t make noise
  10. bean bag chair

The best part about this kid? You can’t buy her something that she won’t like. Well OK if you buy her a Barbie she will totally know you don’t know her at all, but she will love it anyway… Because she knows you don’t have to give her anything, and she likes the thought anyway… :)

What I do before I go to bed…

Just got out of classes (yes it is 10:00 PM), and I was doing my nightly stuff. I haven’t mentioned it on here yet, but I quit smoking again… I am now doing my nightly stuff. So here is what I do before I go to bed.

I go to MyPyramid and log what I ate today (menu planner). It lets me know what I need to eat more of and less of. Now, let me tell you I have been doing doing really good and loosing weight (more than with any diet that I have done), until this quit smoking thing. Guess I need to buy carrots or something.  The good part? Dust quit too! He has gained ten pounds! (He is underweight to that is GOOD.)

Then I run over and make sure that Nina has been doing her spelling games. (Last year with everything we tried she still didn’t do well. Using these games she has been getting at least a 80%) WEIRD

Then I go to Heaven’s schooland log her hours and make sure that there isn’t anything I need to print for “tomorrow” as well as to check my kmail to be sure that none of the teachers need anything from me.

Then I go to my school and check my email, and depending on how tired I am, I check what is going on in my classes. (More often I do it in the morning.) Then I check my NORMAL email. (I reply sometimes, and sometimes I don’t… Depends on how tired I am

Depending on if anyone had anything to do with a doctor, dentist or whatever I then go enter that information in my family’s health manager. I then decide if I am gonna go play my silly games or not.

Last I decide what I am gonna read before I go to sleep. (Tonight? Forensics Under Fire by Fisher.)

What did I do today? Laundry, dishes, bathed all 6 dogs, bathed both cats (they made friends with a skunk the other night), watched my lectures, read some of my work for classes, helped Katrina with her math homework, ran to town, and on on on…

Good Night :)

Teen Drama….

I just gotta see if I am completely wrong in this, or if I am just slightly wrong. I am sick of teen drama, and it has only been going on for a day. A while back Heaven got into an argument with one of her “friends” a little background is needed here I think.

This friend has been on the “you can’t have anything to do with” list several times. #1 time, the friend and Heaven were sharing passwords (yes a mistake), and the friend emailed nasty things to a different friend. I know this as I had a keylogger program (as well as logged everything else), and it wasn’t sent from our computer. The second friend in question is never allowed to talk to Heaven again. I don’t blame the parents, but Heaven didn’t do it. This was a few years ago, so we are talking sending nasty stuff to a 13 or 14 year old boy.

#2 Ever seen mean girls? This “friend” made a call to a girls house and left a message that the girl was pregnant. Even though with caller ID, they knew who had made the call, this friend said Heaven did it.

#3 We picked Heaven up from the movies one time and this “friend” was there, and was on drugs. The kind where you chew on your own face, some sort of speed.

Now this newest drama. The “friend” got mad at Heaven because she was jealous of a different friend Heaven had. They both acted immature about it (my daughter as well). The “friend” was saying things like “you are so poor your clothes never fit” (I laughed after all my mom just spent $500 on Heaven’s cloths), “at least my parents are together” and anything else mean she could think to say. This was all on text message, and yes I read the text message. My daughter did something silly, because she was mad. She broke a DVD that she had borrowed from this “friend.”

Now I have stayed out of it, after all other than to tell Heaven this “friend” isn’t a friend, and she needs to stay away from all contact with her, I figure it is up to Heaven to do whatever needs to be done. So I am on myspace today, I know shocker, Heaven’s grandfather messaged me, so I was responding, and guess who contacts me? (I am generally friends with Heaven’s friends, as I monitor them to a degree so I know what is going on.) Anyway, she pretends to be her mother, and tells me I need to punish Heaven as well as pay for the movie.

Convo: her – hi, my mom would like to have a little talk with you. hi this is (insert name), I would really appreciate if you would disaplin your daughter for trashing the movie (insert name) bought. She let Heaven borrow it the day she bought it. So if you would please drop twenty dollars off in the mail box or a new one. Thanks (Discipline was spelled that way.)

Me: You have to take that up with Heaven. I am not involved, and I am not getting involved. Nor am I going to pay any money for her actions, you will have to get Heaven to pay for her own actions.

Her: she is your daughter

Me: She is close enough to being an adult, that unless it is very important it is up to her to take care of her own problems.

Her: i payed thirty dollars for (name here) to have that movie.

Me: Listen if you want to talk to me about it give me a call; (my phone number). I am not going to have this conversation on myspace.

So I thought about it, and thought about it. I called the mom. Did I mention I don’t like her even a little bit? No, well I don’t. So I called, talked to her and asked her if everything was taken care of with the movie. Now it is from the phone so I am giving generals not exact words as I can’t remember the exact words. She basically tells me, no but she isn’t going to push it. Tells me basically what a pain in the rear my daughter is, and that it was a movie the entire family would enjoy and the money came out of her pocket for the money… So I just say ok, ok, ok… After all I am not calling to get into a fight with this woman, I have done that before.

(The “friend” was calling every fifteen minutes because Heaven and her were in a fight, it was on the caller ID, Dustin had to work. It was a couple of years ago. So I called back to ask the “friend” to quit calling, as it was interrupting the sleep of the family. The mother answered the phone. I asked to talk to the “friend” to which the mother said, “do you know what time it is?” To which I said yes, but that the daughter was calling over and over and I was calling to ask her to stop, as Heaven had asked her to stop without success. She tells me her daughter is asleep and there is NO way she is making the calls. To which I tell her I have caller ID and the last call was a couple of minutes ago. She tells me “fine, I will take care of my daughter, you take care of yours.” end of convo) So nope I don’t like this woman.

To end: I have no intention of paying for the movie, making Heaven pay for the movie, or for Heaven to be in trouble for the movie. She knows she acted immaturely, which is all being in trouble would be for. However, since she knows and is appologetic I am not doing it. I realize that in a small way it is wrong of me, as I feel the way I do because of my own immature behavior, after all I don’t like these people.

Any words of wisdom out there? Am I so wrong, I should do some other course of action, or am I just wrong but you don’t blame me? Oh, one other thing the reason for the fight in which she kept calling that night? She told Heaven I was a slut, and I slept with everyone in town. I didn’t really care, as I know that isn’t true, so I actually kind of thought it was funny. However, Heaven was pissed and told her to never talk to her again.

OH, and Heaven has to block her from her cell, block her from her email, myspace and so forth. I am sick of this girl. She is a druggy (I know for sure, as she asked my daughter via text messages I have read several times), she is a bad person (not only the above, but she is willing to lie to someone older than her about her age so they will date her, last one was 24, also read the text messages), and so on… I am sick of the girl, and hope that Heaven has finally had enough too.

My Learning Curve…

I watched my senator (Barrasso) today on a little “town hall” type thing, and the other guy that does this “against the public option” thing today. They were doing this thing with doctors, and essentially the doctors were complaining about the reduced amount of money they get from medicare. (BTW, can’t remember the guy that does this stuff with my senator, but he made a lot of valid points even though he is against what I want. Barrasso didn’t have anything to say that I thought was good.) However, because of the other guys inability to understand life, I still don’t like him.

So it makes me wonder, what is that cost (reimbursement)? I did a tiny research to find something, and plan on doing more later. I was not able to find the answers yet. However, it just so happens that I got an “explanation of benefits” for Katrina’s kidcare today. I am thinking the difference is most likely there, but perhaps medicare is a bit more? *Unsure… So you tell me what do you think?

Katrina had a mole removed from her head. The doctor did a good job. It took about 20 minutes to talk to us, remove it, and send us out the door. They gave her a bit of whatever they use so that you don’t feel it, and used this little thing with a hole cut in it, and it looked like they “razor” cut it off. In addition they sent it in to be sure it wasn’t cancerous. (It wasn’t.)

Here is the cost:

Office Lab - Charges, 195.00; Discount, 4.00; Blue Cross Blue Shield 191.00
Office Visit – Charges, 73.00; Discount, 17.00; /BCBS 51.00
Office Medical Care – Charges, 209.00; Discount, 35.00; BCBS 174.00

TOTAL – Charges, 477.00; Discount, 56.00; BCBS, 416.00; Copay, 5.00

I have to say if that is even close to what medicare pays for services (although, many of the copays are higher) the doctors aren’t being reasonable, in my opinion. Of course I don’t know what they pay, as I can’t seem to find that information…

One of the things that I will give credit for from the dude that does the little talk show with Barrasso: The standard of care for some things are to high (example used: bump on the head almost always equals an MRI, when it isn’t really something that should always be done). He really does make some excellent points. However, I would use the same points FOR the public option rather than against them…

Anyway, I can’t wait for whatever is going to happen to finally happen. The soaps that call themselves politics are hurting my head. I have taken several classes, and read so many books about politics (and interest groups) that I am starting to fall into the idea that we need major reform in these areas. People and VOTES are what our system is supposed to be about, not CORPORATIONS and MONEY… I hope I live to see the day when that reform is made. No I don’t want mob rule, but I certainly want our politicians doing that which they are elected to do, or at least put every effort into it… :)

Barrasso…

Real Wyoming People Besides Me.

One

Two

So here I am listening to Barrasso again (my rep from Wyoming), and taking a look at what he is saying. The guy with him (Coburn) isn’t quite as silly as Barrasso. (Hey gotta be honest, even if it would be better for MY SIDE if they were both quacks.)

1) He talks about drug dealers being the reason for fraud… UM, unless he means “doctors” that isn’t true. HERE for more info.

2) Unneeded head scans… Then the doctors need to go back so school… Even I know that isn’t standard procedure. That sounds like a problem with doctors. However, I will say that the original question to do with tort reform was on target. I am not sure that I agree with the idea that the person who looses pays all of the court costs or not. I would have to do more research, as with a civil complaint the determination is made by one person (the judge), not a panel of people. I am just not sure that it is a good idea to give that much power to one person (against the poor). However, in general it is fair to say that tort reform is needed. On the other side while this CONTRIBUTES this isn’t by itself the reason for high costs, and that needs to be addressed fully.

3) around 7 minutes the STUPID talking point about reading the bill is introduced to the questions… *Sigh, while it MIGHT seem like common sense for this to be in the talks, in reality it is a stupid point. We actually hire our reps helpers that read these for them, and offer them expert information about what it in them. This is how it is done, how it has always been done, and quite frankly the way it SHOULD BE done. Unless we start making a school for our reps so that they can understand the language, they should have experts that read this stuff for them. Bills aren’t designed so that a layman (which is what MOST reps are) can read them, they are in the language of the law. So unless we are only going to elect lawyers from now on, we can’t expect this to be an issue. (Although in truth I do feel more comfortable with a lawyer as a rep than doctors, or ex military, and definitely more than actors and such.) Also with the 5 bills it is fair to say that really a “true” bill isn’t out there yet. HERE TO learn more about the process.

4) What is the rush? We need to get it right? Well that seems quite frankly to be a good argument. However, it really isn’t. Every day people are being put to death by our current system, and this fight has been going on for a long time. (Check out the links.) More time isn’t been asked for to “get it right” it is asked for to sweep it under the table. History shows this over and over.

5) Allow Health Insurance over state lines… This wouldn’t create the competive edge as it sounds, and here is why… *sigh this is a state right issue, if anyone should understand why this is a bad idea it is the people who believe highly in state rights. (I.E. Republicans, like the two in this video trying to say that taking state rights is good…)

6) Insurance Portability, ROFL that is one of MY talking points. It favors a government option, NOT employer based insurace… :)   Love that one

7) ROFL, most of the paperwork is for insurance NOT for the regulation. A standard form is good, along with a standard insurance. Once again the argument for single payer is stolen for “no public option.” Amazing what the spin can be…

8) No one is suggesting single payer, no one is suggesting Canadian care or any other place. (Well I am, and a few others. However, it isn’t what Obama is going for.)

OK, I can’t stand to watch more…

life

Busy, Busy, Busy

Where should I start? I guess with the weather. It has been raining all week, well today is the first day it hasn’t rained. This means… ta-da… Dust has been home this last week. He works out on ranches; doing oil wells. If it is raining and he attempts to move the rig he tears up the roads. So generally (depending on location), if it is raining he can’t work. Well he can work the location he is at, but can’t then move to a new location. This equates Dustin wanting attention, LOTS of it. So right there part of my day is shot.

Then Heaven was visiting her aunt (and other family), which means? Ta…da… Nina is bored and wanting attention too. This also takes a good chunk of my day away.

I haven’t even had time to get to my silly game, and play. Now i have checked into and played on facebook after all the games I play on there only take like 20 minutes. (Which is mafia wars, my zoo and farm town if anyone wants to join me.) Oh and I totally join everything I am invited to play, but I don’t actually play them. I just like giving people bigger crews for games.

Nina and I baked a cake, Dustin and I talked about all sorts of things. Yesterday I went and picked Heaven up. Then last night Dustin and I had a date night (Italian dinner followed by Star Trek movie), it was nice.

Heaven is doing good, her prednisone being taken out has pretty much returned her to normal. This is good and bad. The good? She is acting like Heaven. The bad? She is totally her normal teen aged (argue, want to make all her own choices, boy crazy) self. We just got into an arguement day before yesterday. I posted on my “blog” at myspace about it. She decided that she wants to try again with her day, which is good and bad (if he disappoints her again I will be upset, but I really do want her to have a relationship with him.) So she tells me that, and tells me that if he wants her to come for the summer she is going. So then I explain I am the mother, so I will decide what she will or won’t be doing. We argue about this point. So she posts that she can visit her dad, and she will run away if I try to stop her. So I post telling her I said we would play it by ear, and I didn’t say NO, I said MAYBE. I woke up to having the post deleted (she knows my password on myspace as she normally checks it for me as I don’t go there often.) Evidently a friend of hers saw my post and yelled at her, so she deleted it. At least she has dropped the subject…

Sigh, the drama of having a teen daughter. The time of having other family… I am really ready for some good alone time, and perhaps some cleaning time… Then at least to be able to check into my game…

Need more hours in the day…

Comments received and my response to those comments.

Your clueless comments …

I appreciate the show of the fact that I can’t spell. :) I am perfectly aware that I can’t spell, and I have decided on my blog that it is OK. I admitted full well that I didn’t understand the issue, and that I was most likely the idiot in this situation, as well as that I needed to research this issue more. As with most people I have things that I have studied in detail and those that I haven’t. I admitted that I have not researched this subject, and I was overzealous because of news that came out of Texas about the subject of secession. My blog is where I express my ideas as I learn new subjects. I know most people post when they are done (or think they are) researching a subject. My blog expresses my growth in a lot of areas. While that might lead to some posts that I follow up with something about me being wrong, my normal readers understand and appreciate that. I have no interest in gun regulations, thus I am not likely to research this subject. I am however, still quite willing to admit I don’t know anything about this subject.

In regards to using the “F” word, I am afraid that I don’t agree at all. First, I am not writing this blog as any correspondence to anyone, specifically. I don’t know how you happened upon my blog, but it is normally only frequented by people I actually know. If you have earned the right to use the word via the military, I have the right to use the word as well… A few things about me:

1. I am a 32 year old woman in school for criminal justice (probation/parole)
2. I have given birth 4 times; I lost a son, I gave a daughter up for adoption and I have 2 beautiful girls.
3.  I was sexually abused as a teenager, by a teenager.
4. I have screwed up in my life many many times, and I can admit it each and every time.

I think I have “earned” the right to say whatever I want to. (Although I would note that I might say WTF? but I would never say the full blown words.)

As for the event being what it was, I will simply say that it wasn’t “sold” to me as a fundraiser. In addition, Independent doesn’t mean I can’t make up my mind; it means that both sides being combined make more sensible resolutions to problems. I am not for “big government” nor am I for whatever label you would put on the republican agenda; I am for people. Real people in real situations. I attended this event to express views on insurance. I messed that up, I didn’t say anything about it. I am shy, and don’t do well in the public arena.

Now to the heart of the issue: Single Payer Insurance and Politics

Perhaps I am stupid, perhaps the thoughts I brought up were stupid. However, I will tell you this because I said something that was stupid our representatives (in Wyoming) know my personal story. They understand that I have a teenager with an autoimmune disease, they understand that without some sort of program, her life will be bound to fail. They know WHY I advocate for single payer insurance. I am not now nor will I ever be in politics, but there is one fact that I might not be proud of but that is true. If you want people to hear your story you have to be sure that people READ what you say. Would you have thought twice about my blog if you came here and saw my personal story without my “lack of fact” post on the representative?  (Think hard on that.) Not proud of it, but for my daughter I am willing to look like a total idiot if that is what it takes to get people to look at this subject. You have to get the attention first, then you tell the story. Do I wish it was different? Yes, I do. Do I wish that my emails to the senators was taken more seriously? Yes, I do. However, it isn’t…

You yourself haven’t even looked at the single payer option; your comment shows this. The VA as an example would show a true socialist approach. I am talking more like medicare and medicaid (which by the way I have experienced medicaid, I was a teen mother.) We are talking private doctors, with private practice and a group insurance plan that PAYS it. We aren’t talking about a government run health system. Were there some things that I wasn’t able to do because of it? Sure, instead of taking a specific medication, sometimes a different one had to be substituted, and some treatments weren’t OK to use. However, it is still better than no insurance or getting no care because you can’t afford it.

I do apologize to Colin Simpson, the reason that it took so long after the dinner to make the post is because I needed to decide if it was worth it. Was I really willing to stoop so low to get the point out there? Ultimately, if Simpson decides to run for governor I don’t know a single person that won’t vote for him (me included), no one was going to take what was said seriously, and I am a mother (my first priority is to my children), so the answer was yes. The only possible harm was to my reputation, which I don’t care about enough anyway.

The problem with our system is that we look to our “own kind” in getting what we need to know when we research subjects. Most of us don’t look at the other side, and if we do normally we mock what we think we know (which is the angle you see here), but we really don’t know. It is a system that doesn’t work to educate, only to back up whatever views you already have. I implore you, and everyone to really look at the single payer system. Protect my children, and all the other children…

I was planning on making this post next week… However, I will make it now… Thank you for your time… Terra

  • Fact Four: The United States ranks between 50th and 100th in immunizations depending on the immunization. Overall US is 67th, right behind Botswana
  • Fact Five: Outcome studies on a variety of diseases, such as coronary artery disease, and renal failure show the United States to rank below Canada and a wide variety of industrialized nations.
  • Conclusion: The United States ranks poorly relative to other industrialized nations in health care despite having the best trained health care providers and the best medical infrastructure of any industrialized nation

One Mind at a Time

So here is what I want to see, I want to see one mind changed at a time. If I was to tell you I know a senator that was a practicing doctor, and was an intelligent man. Yet he was on the wrong side of this issue, would the logical conclusion be to move on or to make the case? We are talking about one of the people that could make a difference here. We are talking about a man that understands some of the fundamental problems. Someone that advocates for taking personal responsibility of your health care. Someone that understands and agrees that the first step is to stop people from eating wrong and so on. However, recognizes that this isn’t always the case. After all with children like Heaven what could she have done to “give” herself this disease (for the record they don’t know what causes it.)

My logical conclusion (OK I don’t know if it is logical or not) is to have all of us who understand the needs of this country in regards to health care, write to him. Explain and explain. Teach him what he needs to know. He could be the leader this fight needs, and he is articulate enough to champion this cause. He could be our leader. The only thing standing in the way is incorrect preconceived notions… So here is my request, write to him…

Senator Barraso, write to him today. Explain your situation, explain what you know… I don’t care where you live, enough logical argument will change his mind. Write to him, look at his current arguments. Explain why they are wrong if you can… Let us the people who care, Lobby him to the point where the truth comes out… Senator_Barrasso@barrasso.senate.gov
