What I do before I go to bed…

Just got out of classes (yes it is 10:00 PM), and I was doing my nightly stuff. I haven’t mentioned it on here yet, but I quit smoking again… I am now doing my nightly stuff. So here is what I do before I go to bed.

I go to MyPyramid and log what I ate today (menu planner). It lets me know what I need to eat more of and less of. Now, let me tell you I have been doing doing really good and loosing weight (more than with any diet that I have done), until this quit smoking thing. Guess I need to buy carrots or something.  The good part? Dust quit too! He has gained ten pounds! (He is underweight to that is GOOD.)

Then I run over and make sure that Nina has been doing her spelling games. (Last year with everything we tried she still didn’t do well. Using these games she has been getting at least a 80%) WEIRD

Then I go to Heaven’s schooland log her hours and make sure that there isn’t anything I need to print for “tomorrow” as well as to check my kmail to be sure that none of the teachers need anything from me.

Then I go to my school and check my email, and depending on how tired I am, I check what is going on in my classes. (More often I do it in the morning.) Then I check my NORMAL email. (I reply sometimes, and sometimes I don’t… Depends on how tired I am

Depending on if anyone had anything to do with a doctor, dentist or whatever I then go enter that information in my family’s health manager. I then decide if I am gonna go play my silly games or not.

Last I decide what I am gonna read before I go to sleep. (Tonight? Forensics Under Fire by Fisher.)

What did I do today? Laundry, dishes, bathed all 6 dogs, bathed both cats (they made friends with a skunk the other night), watched my lectures, read some of my work for classes, helped Katrina with her math homework, ran to town, and on on on…

Good Night :)

Teen Drama….

I just gotta see if I am completely wrong in this, or if I am just slightly wrong. I am sick of teen drama, and it has only been going on for a day. A while back Heaven got into an argument with one of her “friends” a little background is needed here I think.

This friend has been on the “you can’t have anything to do with” list several times. #1 time, the friend and Heaven were sharing passwords (yes a mistake), and the friend emailed nasty things to a different friend. I know this as I had a keylogger program (as well as logged everything else), and it wasn’t sent from our computer. The second friend in question is never allowed to talk to Heaven again. I don’t blame the parents, but Heaven didn’t do it. This was a few years ago, so we are talking sending nasty stuff to a 13 or 14 year old boy.

#2 Ever seen mean girls? This “friend” made a call to a girls house and left a message that the girl was pregnant. Even though with caller ID, they knew who had made the call, this friend said Heaven did it.

#3 We picked Heaven up from the movies one time and this “friend” was there, and was on drugs. The kind where you chew on your own face, some sort of speed.

Now this newest drama. The “friend” got mad at Heaven because she was jealous of a different friend Heaven had. They both acted immature about it (my daughter as well). The “friend” was saying things like “you are so poor your clothes never fit” (I laughed after all my mom just spent $500 on Heaven’s cloths), “at least my parents are together” and anything else mean she could think to say. This was all on text message, and yes I read the text message. My daughter did something silly, because she was mad. She broke a DVD that she had borrowed from this “friend.”

Now I have stayed out of it, after all other than to tell Heaven this “friend” isn’t a friend, and she needs to stay away from all contact with her, I figure it is up to Heaven to do whatever needs to be done. So I am on myspace today, I know shocker, Heaven’s grandfather messaged me, so I was responding, and guess who contacts me? (I am generally friends with Heaven’s friends, as I monitor them to a degree so I know what is going on.) Anyway, she pretends to be her mother, and tells me I need to punish Heaven as well as pay for the movie.

Convo: her – hi, my mom would like to have a little talk with you. hi this is (insert name), I would really appreciate if you would disaplin your daughter for trashing the movie (insert name) bought. She let Heaven borrow it the day she bought it. So if you would please drop twenty dollars off in the mail box or a new one. Thanks (Discipline was spelled that way.)

Me: You have to take that up with Heaven. I am not involved, and I am not getting involved. Nor am I going to pay any money for her actions, you will have to get Heaven to pay for her own actions.

Her: she is your daughter

Me: She is close enough to being an adult, that unless it is very important it is up to her to take care of her own problems.

Her: i payed thirty dollars for (name here) to have that movie.

Me: Listen if you want to talk to me about it give me a call; (my phone number). I am not going to have this conversation on myspace.

So I thought about it, and thought about it. I called the mom. Did I mention I don’t like her even a little bit? No, well I don’t. So I called, talked to her and asked her if everything was taken care of with the movie. Now it is from the phone so I am giving generals not exact words as I can’t remember the exact words. She basically tells me, no but she isn’t going to push it. Tells me basically what a pain in the rear my daughter is, and that it was a movie the entire family would enjoy and the money came out of her pocket for the money… So I just say ok, ok, ok… After all I am not calling to get into a fight with this woman, I have done that before.

(The “friend” was calling every fifteen minutes because Heaven and her were in a fight, it was on the caller ID, Dustin had to work. It was a couple of years ago. So I called back to ask the “friend” to quit calling, as it was interrupting the sleep of the family. The mother answered the phone. I asked to talk to the “friend” to which the mother said, “do you know what time it is?” To which I said yes, but that the daughter was calling over and over and I was calling to ask her to stop, as Heaven had asked her to stop without success. She tells me her daughter is asleep and there is NO way she is making the calls. To which I tell her I have caller ID and the last call was a couple of minutes ago. She tells me “fine, I will take care of my daughter, you take care of yours.” end of convo) So nope I don’t like this woman.

To end: I have no intention of paying for the movie, making Heaven pay for the movie, or for Heaven to be in trouble for the movie. She knows she acted immaturely, which is all being in trouble would be for. However, since she knows and is appologetic I am not doing it. I realize that in a small way it is wrong of me, as I feel the way I do because of my own immature behavior, after all I don’t like these people.

Any words of wisdom out there? Am I so wrong, I should do some other course of action, or am I just wrong but you don’t blame me? Oh, one other thing the reason for the fight in which she kept calling that night? She told Heaven I was a slut, and I slept with everyone in town. I didn’t really care, as I know that isn’t true, so I actually kind of thought it was funny. However, Heaven was pissed and told her to never talk to her again.

OH, and Heaven has to block her from her cell, block her from her email, myspace and so forth. I am sick of this girl. She is a druggy (I know for sure, as she asked my daughter via text messages I have read several times), she is a bad person (not only the above, but she is willing to lie to someone older than her about her age so they will date her, last one was 24, also read the text messages), and so on… I am sick of the girl, and hope that Heaven has finally had enough too.

My Learning Curve…

I watched my senator (Barrasso) today on a little “town hall” type thing, and the other guy that does this “against the public option” thing today. They were doing this thing with doctors, and essentially the doctors were complaining about the reduced amount of money they get from medicare. (BTW, can’t remember the guy that does this stuff with my senator, but he made a lot of valid points even though he is against what I want. Barrasso didn’t have anything to say that I thought was good.) However, because of the other guys inability to understand life, I still don’t like him.

So it makes me wonder, what is that cost (reimbursement)? I did a tiny research to find something, and plan on doing more later. I was not able to find the answers yet. However, it just so happens that I got an “explanation of benefits” for Katrina’s kidcare today. I am thinking the difference is most likely there, but perhaps medicare is a bit more? *Unsure… So you tell me what do you think?

Katrina had a mole removed from her head. The doctor did a good job. It took about 20 minutes to talk to us, remove it, and send us out the door. They gave her a bit of whatever they use so that you don’t feel it, and used this little thing with a hole cut in it, and it looked like they “razor” cut it off. In addition they sent it in to be sure it wasn’t cancerous. (It wasn’t.)

Here is the cost:

Office Lab - Charges, 195.00; Discount, 4.00; Blue Cross Blue Shield 191.00
Office Visit – Charges, 73.00; Discount, 17.00; /BCBS 51.00
Office Medical Care – Charges, 209.00; Discount, 35.00; BCBS 174.00

TOTAL – Charges, 477.00; Discount, 56.00; BCBS, 416.00; Copay, 5.00

I have to say if that is even close to what medicare pays for services (although, many of the copays are higher) the doctors aren’t being reasonable, in my opinion. Of course I don’t know what they pay, as I can’t seem to find that information…

One of the things that I will give credit for from the dude that does the little talk show with Barrasso: The standard of care for some things are to high (example used: bump on the head almost always equals an MRI, when it isn’t really something that should always be done). He really does make some excellent points. However, I would use the same points FOR the public option rather than against them…

Anyway, I can’t wait for whatever is going to happen to finally happen. The soaps that call themselves politics are hurting my head. I have taken several classes, and read so many books about politics (and interest groups) that I am starting to fall into the idea that we need major reform in these areas. People and VOTES are what our system is supposed to be about, not CORPORATIONS and MONEY… I hope I live to see the day when that reform is made. No I don’t want mob rule, but I certainly want our politicians doing that which they are elected to do, or at least put every effort into it… :)

SUPPORT TODAY!!! Sign the Petition!!!

Dear Friend,

With nearly 50 million Americans lacking health insurance, and
premiums rapidly rising, it’s time to address the health care
crisis in our country. All Americans deserve access to
affordable, quality health care — and today, nearly one-in-six
of us don’t have it.

This month, Congress is working on new reform legislation
that will make quality health care available and affordable for
all Americans. In particular, Senators Dick Durbin, Patrick Leahy, and Chuck Schumer are working for a public
health insurance option that would foster greater competition in
the marketplace, create more choices for consumers, and lead to
lower costs and better quality.

Please join me in supporting their work to pass strong
health care reform legislation this year by signing the online
petition at http://ga3.org/campaign/healthpetition?source=hc_taf

Truth In News? Why you CAN’T Believe

I want everyone to know that if you hear it on the news doesn’t mean it is true. There are a few things that keep a network in business. How many people watch (thus entertainment value), and advertisements (thus corporate interests.) This system kind of makes for crappy news.

I know intelligent people who watch the news and believe that which as been edited, and shown in a light that isn’t true… I am SHOCKED that more people don’t understand this. I am SHOCKED that people that I respect and care about believe EVERYTHING they hear…

Exhibit A

context

fox news should be known as FAUX NEWS

The point? Do your own research on any subject that you find important. The current thing under attack is HEALTH CARE, they are NOT telling you the truth…

If you hear something that sounds to outrageous to be true, it most likely is. If you hear that the government is gonna kill old people, that they are gonna limit pregnancy, or other outrageous stories, fact check. The truth is these people are PAID by the INSURANCE, and other corporate interests to screw you out of what you should get.

HELP stop MASS hysteria from taking away that which makes sense.

EXHIBIT B (We are letting hysteria win.)

NOW, go find your representive and tell them  you aren’t STUPID, and you want WHAT is good for US, not what is good for the industry. Tell them WE CAN AND WILL start electing 3rd party people if that is what it takes! We the people, not WE the HEALTH INSURANCE INDUSTRY!!!

Internet

The internet is such an amazing thing, I get emails all the time on various different things. Every once in a while I address the thought here. However, I have to say the most amazing to me is when I get one from some with experience with AutoImmune Hemolytic Anemia. I just received such an email today. Imagine my thrill at hearing that someone had 17 years without any symptoms. SEVENTEEN YEARS, while that is by no means a guarantee for my daughter, it does give a certain amount of hope.

So for the other email updates on Heaven. She went to hemotologist this last Tuesday, and she still has the antogen (I think that is the word), and thus needs to stay on the MP6 (mercaptopurine). 75 MG 5 days a week and 100 MG 2 times a week. However, she is staying pretty stable. Also she gets to go down to a blood draw a month. So all in all pretty good news. She also takes a generic form of bactrim, and Lexapro

I guess that is all that is new… :)

Obama’s Plan Decoded! Really?

EDIT: Normally I would put an edit on the END, but since this post is huge here it is at the beginning..

Observation:

Page 767, Lines 21-24, and continued on page 768, lines 1-5 read as follows:

”The term ‘nurse home visitation services’ means home visits by trained nurses to families with a first-time pregnant woman, or a child (under 2 years of age) who is eligible for medical assistance under this title…to the extent determined by the Secretary based upon evidence, that such services are effective in one or more of the following: ‘(1) Improving maternal or child health and pregnancy outcomes or increasing birth intervals between pregnancies.’

Truth:

This is exactly why the lay person needs to research before making assumptions. (OH, and you can see the comments of this post for the entire conversation.) What you are quoting is The Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP)—formerly known as the Nurse Home Visitation Program, it has been in effect for over 3 decades.

or here

END OF EDIT

Let me start with this comment, when did we as a society believe everything we got in an email? When did having in your name make you know everything? (Especially about legal stuff?) AND why is it that things are taken so out of context? Here is the current mass email going around, and the truth after…

Pg 30 Sec 123 of HC bill – THERE WILL BE A GOVT COMMITTEE that decides what treatments/benefits you get OK this is true, but is written to scare you. Yes a committee is going to decide things like should you be allowed to get that nose job? While the obvious answer many be NO, the actual answer is maybe. There are legitimate reasons to have this procedure done, and not having the nose you want isn’t one of them, but having a deviated septum might be. So do we allow everyone get a nose job, or no one? OH wait lets  have a committee and decide based upon the nose… DUH, this isn’t scary this is SMART.

Pg 29 lines 4-16 in the HC bill – YOUR HEALTHCARE IS RATIONED!!! What is said in the section being referred to is a “max” amount of spending (that is increased each year) so that this doesn’t break the bank. However, “essential” care isn’t included (or excluded in care).

Pg 42 of HC Bill – The Health Choices Commissioner will choose your HC Benefits for you. You have no choice! It doesn’t say that at all. What it does say is someone will be employed (sounds like state level) to explain options and help with care…

PG 50 Section 152 in HC bill – HC will be provided to ALL non US citizens, illegal or otherwise. This simply says that discrimination will not be allowed. This plan isn’t FREE you have to pay for it. It is an insurance you can BUY if you want to… So how are all these illegal people getting it? This is simply wishful thinking on the part of whoever wrote this email to begin with.

Pg 58HC Bill – Govt will have real-time access to individs finances & a National ID Healthcard will b issued! ONLY if you opt into the plan. It is government assistance (in a way) based upon what you can pay SO in order to do it, your finances will be needed. All health insurance companies give health cards, the only reason it is a “national” health card, is because it is a “national” plan.

Pg 59 HC Bill lines 21-24 Govt will have direct access to ur banks accts for electronic funds transfer ONLY if you WANT them to. This is an OPTION to make direct payments (just like most companies have.) However, it isn’t mandatory that you allow for electronic funds transfer.

PG 65 Sec 164 is a payoff subsidized plan for retirees and their families in Unions & community orgs (ACORN). This starts with an auto renewal plan (you have 90 days to reapply for the insurance and during that time… well you get the point.) In addition it has claims for companies that provide their own insurance, so that they can get something back…

PG 84 Sec 203 HC bill – Govt mandates ALL benefit pkgs for private HC plans in the Exchange This is true, the government says that basic care must be given for “basic care”… Kills companies like the one my daughters father gave to her for a long time (cost him like $10 a month.) It literally in the 3 years she had it covered nothing. However, it did satisfy the clause in her child support suit that he had to maintain health insurance on her…

PG 85 Line 7 HC Bill – Specs for of Benefit Levels for Plans = The Govt will ration your Healthcare! Doesn’t say that at all. Let me also say that this plan doesn’t mean you have to leave your health care if you like it. In fact because of the competition with the government plan your premiums might go down. So the restriction in this aren’t applicable to anyone that doesn’t WANT the insurance.

PG 91 Lines 4-7 HC Bill – Govt mandates linguistic approp svcs. Example – Translation for illegal aliens There are quite a few American citizens (LEGAL) that don’t speak English. The translation isn’t illegal aliens, we have many different cultures within our own culture :(

Pg 95 HC Bill Lines 8-18 The Govt will use groups i.e., ACORN & Americorps to sign up individuals for Govt HC plan This only bothers you if the word ACORN scares you. Just like most companies they have had some people who abused the sytem, but that doesn’t make ACORN a bad thing… It simply means that better standards need to be made so that the system is  harder to abuse.

PG 85 Line 7 HC Bill – Specs of Ben Levels for Plans. AARP members – Your Health care WILL be rationed I am not going to repeat myself, the government isn’t RATIONING anyting, nor are they going to force you into this plan.

PG 102 Lines 12-18 HC Bill – Medicaid Eligible Individuals will be automatically enrolled in Medicaid. You will have NO choice Once again if you don’t WANT the plan you don’t have to HAVE the plan. However, why would anyone have a problem with this? Medicaid is a VERY good program (no co-pays, and no cost to you at all, but there are limited eligibilities and this is supposed to generally help in the short term, not to live on. Also the amount of money you are allowed to make on this program, makes you not the working poor, but the POOR. Like you know for all the people that are loosing their jobs. OH and you can’t have all that many assests either.)

pg 124 lines 24-25 HC No company can sue GOVT on price fixing. No “judicial review” against Govt monopoly Because they get to negotiate? DUH OH and since sections aren’t provided rather page numbers (which vary) I am not going to look to see if this and the next one is even ON the bill.

pg 127 Lines 1-16 HC Bill – Doctors/AMA – The Govt will tell YOU what YOU can make. By negotiating a price… DUH again, this a good thing.

Pg 145 Line 15-17 An Employer MUST auto enroll employees into pub opt plan. NO CHOICE I didn’t see anything like this at all…

Pg 126 Lines 22-25 Employers MUST pay for HC for part time employees AND their families. As it should be, the goal is to allow every American insurance.

Pg 149 Lines 16-24 ANY Employer with a payroll 400k & above who does not provide pub opt. pays 8% tax on all payroll As it should be…

pg 150 Lines 9-13 Businesses with a payroll between 251k & 400k who dont provide pub. opt pays 2-6% tax on all payroll As it should be… and do note it isn’t on the amount of $$$ made, just on payroll…

Pg 167 Lines 18-23 ANY individual who doesnt have acceptable HC, according to Govt, will be taxed 2.5% of income… Don’t know if it is in there (still not looking since no acceptable sections are mentioned) but if it is a 2.5% tax isn’t bad…

Pg 170 Lines 1-3 HC Bill Any NONRESIDENT Alien is exempt from individual taxes. (Americans will pay) This is basically to do with the fact that they don’t qualify for the plan, and thus they don’t have to pay to help it… :( DUH

here to see the bill.

OK, I am done… Now you can do the homework youself… Do me a favor though, read the whole thing not sections. As one section might say something, then another section might make a rule that has to do with another part. This is the way a bill is.

This is not hard to read nor understand, but it is quite long…

Question Answered…

I got a question on facebook (my email is terra@terrasears.com if you have a question). Essentially the question is IF all of this is so untrue, why do they keep saying that the single payer (and a public option) is bad?

Here is an eloquent answer:

here if you can’t see it…

Proof if you need it here:) This is line for line of what is in the bill, and what is being said about the bill. EXPOSING the LIES being told to you. These liars believe you are lazy (won’t look it up) and stupid (believe that they are telling the truth, and don’t know what is intellegent to do.)

My Hero of the Week!!

There is a lot of talk from all sides of politics about liberals being kittens (well, the other word for kittens), and they don’t stand up for anything. I have been feeling like that is true. Once again I am not either R or D, because I do believe in fiscal responsibility (and other R values). This is why I am for single payer, and NOT the public option. However, on this issue I recognize the need of the people OVER the need of the fiscal responsibility and feel that a public option will lead to single payer, it will just cost us more. (Don’t believe me look into it, it is cheaper than the system we pay for now.) I have said how disappointed at the fact that my own reps (R) are quite frankly for the insurance companies trying to suggest that any of us that are sick did it to ourselves and we need to have more personal accountability. (Don’t get me wrong, sometimes we do make ourselves sick. Ignorance of our bodies, laziness, and so on contribute. However, lots of sickness just happens.)

Anyway, Rep Anthony Weiner of NY gets a shout out today, as my hero. He is standing up for the people. Making people admit some key things that are true, and I am down right impressed. At least one man out there can’t or won’t be bought by the million dollar a day being spent by the insurance companies (ads, contributions to reps and so forth, look into it).

Wyoming people are slowly coming to their senses. Make and print fliers, it is amazing what a difference it makes one people understand that we already ARE paying for insurance but simply aren’t getting it. Get people on board, to win this fight it is US against a million dollars a day… Do your part too. Have people write, set up a petition, show your reps who is really in charge. After all do you want your rep standing up for YOU or the private insurance? I want MY rep to represent ME not a company that pockets our money for profit, and then doesn’t take care of US when we need it…

Here if you can’t see. Anthony Weiner making those against health care put their money where their mouth is.
